My favorite band (Foo Fighters) with my favorite man @ Merriweather Post Pavilion

It was the morning after another AMAZING show. My favorite band, Foo Fighters. There was a reason these guys sell out venues globally. The last time they were in town, I was 15 days away from my due date and didn’t want to risk going into labor at their show. While it would have made for a great story it wasn’t that deep. When they announced their North American tour I felt like this was their way of making it up to me and I didn’t want to take that for granted.

This concert made my fourth Foo Fighters concert but it was Brain’s first experience. Sure, I could have told him how great of a show they put on all day long but there is nothing like experiencing it for yourself.

4:00 pm The thought of being away from Parker all night gave me some anxiety. It was not that I didn’t trust my parents with our son, it’s that I’m a little bit clingy and was missing him before he even left. We snapped a few pics in our matching band tees and then off he went with Grandma as Brian and I made our way up to Maryland for our first show together since Parker’s birth.

6:30 pm We stopped at the liquor store to pick up some wine. Hey! We’d just spent a ton of money at two baseball games that week so in my mind I figured it would be economical to do a little pregaming. I also wanted to remember the show so it was a modest pregame. I may have had the equivalent to a glass of wine by the time we were inside the venue.

7:30 pm We had entered the venue, scoped out the scene and found a place to lay our blanket down. I chatted up our new neighbors, secured our spot, and then we headed over to the beer line. I’m not a fan of The Struts so I didn’t mind taking our time and taking in the scene.

8:00 pm We were still in line, Foo Fighters took the stage and open with “All My Life.” I couldn’t contain my excitement! “All My Life” is the first track on their Greatest Hits album, it’s a supercharged classic and a top choice for an opener. You know the expression, “Dance like no one is looking”? That was me. I bounced around and rocked out for the first three songs of their set while still in the beer line.

8:30 pm By now we somehow found our way back to our blanket. The family behind us was super sweet and the headbanger to our left was super cool. Everything else after this was pretty much a blur. But one thing was for sure, we had an amazing time and I’m so happy I finally got to share this experience with Brian.

10:30 pm Despite the Foo Fighters’ typical encore performance, Brian insisted on heading to the parking lot as they finished their initial set.

We were crossing the street to get to the parking garage when my all time favorite Foo Fighters song came on, “Times Like These.” Not being in the pavilion did not prevent me from still rocking out. It was the perfect song to end our night.

Final Thoughts What I loved most about watching these guys perform was how they interact with the crowd. They got the crowd amped up, which in turn got them more amped up and there became this supercharged energy bouncing back and forth between us and them making for the ultimate experience. Below is the set list for last week’s show.
Enjoy!
