This month I’m going to shout nylon handbags. Specifically, Kate Spade nylon bags. Okay, in all fairness, I’ve never owned a nylon bag from another brand. I bought my first one six years ago. It’s been through everything. I used it as luggage when we were moving and it became my everyday bag when I wasn’t carrying a diaper bag.

Fast forward to 2022. Neither of my children is in diapers anymore and I wanted to downsize. I decided to stick with nylon because they are easy to clean which is still an important factor for me when choosing an everyday bag. This Chelsea Medium Satchel is sleek and efficient. It is small enough not to weigh me down and just big enough to fit my laptop. I was impressed to find that I could fit two Fire tablets in there….with the kids’ cases on them! After years of carrying a tote, I didn’t think I’d like the strap but it comes in handy when I’m juggling both boys and shopping bags. When I’m not carrying our electronics, I have plenty of room for my wallet, wipes, keys, lipglosses, and snacks that inevitably spill out into the bottom. Hence the need for a bag that is easy to clean. There is a nifty little elastic pocket on the interior side that is perfect for holding a set of keys. There are also exterior side pockets, perfect for lip balms on the left and your phone on the right. The secondary top zipper pocket is now exclusively used to carry crayons and small pieces of paper for when I’m out with the boys.
Kate Spade is known for their quality hardware and craftsmanship. Their nylon bags are stylish, and durable and make for great “mom bags” at any stage of parenthood. I might need to buy this one in another color!
