In keeping with a theme of “simple”, this delicious green smoothie packs a mouthful of flavor with only five ingredients. It includes kiwi, green apple, spinach, orange juice and water. The kiwi and green apple provide a tart flavor while the orange juice calms your taste buds with sweetness. If you’re ever wondering what leafy green to add to your smoothies, spinach is a good option. It has a high nutritional value and a neutral taste making it versatile. When it comes to blending, my preference is raw spinach. I feel like it gives the smoothie a different texture than frozen spinach, but I also enjoy frozen spinach.
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup Organic OJ
- 1 small Green Apple
- 1 small Kiwi peeled
- 1/2 cup Organic Spinach
- 1/2 cup Filtered Water
- 5 Ice Cubes
Directions
- Pour orange juice in blending cup. I prefer to start with a liquid to prevent solids from sticking to the bottom of the cup.
- Dice apple and drop in blending cup
- Peel and dice kiwi; drop in blending cup
- Shove half a cup of spinach in the cup. I chose to add the spinach last because it will sit closest to the blade and may require the most effort to blend.
- Pour in your water and top with ice
- Blend until liquified
Healthy doesn’t have to be complicated. I’m learning that it’s easier to segue from eating processed foods when natural options are easy to make. If you’re trying to eat healthier or cleaner, remember to start simple. Let me know if you enjoy this beverage as much as I and my littles do. If not, how would/did you remix it to fit your taste?
