This morning I was ready to officially start my 2022 fitness journey since the last quarter of 2021 I couldn’t do much physically due to my janky back and pregnancy complications. Part of my new fitness journey is joining another Conqueror Challenge. I’m giving myself 12 weeks to complete the 75-mile Yellowstone Park challenge which means I need to focus on workouts where I can track my miles. More on that later. As much as I wanted to go out for a run, I need to ease back into my workout routine. Normally I’d opt for a workout with my man Shaun T or YouTube cardio video but today I figured I’d try something new. The stationary bike. Our stationary bike is about as basic as it gets. It’s a hand-me-down from my Grandma. It’s also Brian’s preferred method of exercising and it tracks how many miles you ride so I gave it a shot.
20 Minute Rhythm Cycling Class – 90s Pop Ride
I browsed YouTube for a fun looking cycling video and found Gabriella Guevara’s 20 Minute Rhythm Cycling Class – 90s Pop Ride. I figured 20 minutes is good for a beginner like me and, remember, I’m easing back into a routine. The opening song was “I Want you back” by N*SYNC. I was sold. While I couldn’t do as much of the up and down, back and forth movements that she was doing (my bike was about to tip over) I was able to modify the workout when necessary. I liked her energy and the way she led the session. I had more fun than I expected, and I had worked up a decent sweat! Not wanting to overexert myself, I decided to keep listening to 2000’s era pop music while I did some light stretching. I might try one of her 30-minute videos tomorrow and see how I fare.
I hope this is the start of something new. While I love running outdoors, sometimes working out at home is better for my schedule. I don’t want to keep making excuses for why I’m not prioritize my health. I’m not where I want to be but I’m on my way.
