Thoughts on Cheesy Couples Posts

I always thought posts about praising your significant other were a bit cheesy. Like, “Duh, you think they are great. That’s why you’re with them.” But after the past few weeks, I needed to let the world know, in a social media post, that Brian is my Soulmate and I’m so thankful for him. I couldn’t have asked for a better support person to go through these current health challenges with. While I didn’t disclose that in my post, that’s what I was getting at. So maybe all those cheesy, “I love you…you’re the greatest” posts, I’ve rolled my eyes at in the past were more than people trying to showcase their relationships. Maybe they were going through some hardships as well and just wanted to publicly say “thank you” to their partners.

Also, I love this picture of us. I wasn’t feeling well and we ended up cutting our date night short. Brian was really sweet by surprising me with an impromptu night out but my body had other plans. I appreciate him trying to cheer me up.

Brian and I at our usual spot, Crossroads Tabletop Tavern. Board games and beer make a typical date night for us.
You can’t really tell but we were laughing underneath our masks.

Funny side note, I still consider us “newlyweds”. We’re coming up on five years this May. I guess we still give off “dating” vibes because the cashier asked if we were together or separate. It wasn’t until she saw our wedding picture on Brian’s debit card that she realized we are, in fact, together. We weren’t sure if we should be offended (we wear our bands everywhere) or if we should laugh. We chose the latter.
