A Beachy Babymoon & The Lion King Musical

Chrysler Hall | Norfolk, VA

I’m not sure how common Babymoons are but we’ve had such a busy year, already, that we wanted to take some time for ourselves before the arrival of our second baby. We’d recently purchased a new home further out from the city and were living with my parents while the renovations were being completed. That in itself was an added stress while pregnant so I was more than excited when Brian surprised me with tickets to see The Lion King Musical in Norfolk, VA. A weekend trip to the beach was the perfect Babymoon and just what we needed at that time.

Before the show we ate at Blue Moon Taphouse in the Waterside District. Waterside District, features the best of national, regional and local restaurants and offers live music, festivals and more. Located in the heart of the central business district and adjacent to the City of Norfolk’s world-class waterfront and festival site, Waterside District is a central gathering place for local residents and visitor was a relaxing and easy going dinner.  It was definitely relaxing and wish we’d had more time to walk around and explore but we had a show to catch!

Eight months pregnant and excited for the show

The show was at Norfolks Chrysler Hall. Chrysler Hall was “Built in 1972 and located next to the Norfolk Scope arena, the venue is home to the Virginia Symphony Orchestra, the Virginia Ballet and hosts Broadway plays while serving as Norfolk’s primary theater and concert venue.” (wikipedia.com) The show was spectacular and well done although I would have loved to see it on a larger stage. There was so many moving parts and at times it seemed a bit crowded but the cast was outstanding. We skirted out of the theater during the standing ovation to get a jump on the crowd. Being eight months pregnant I needed the time, and space, to maneuver safely back to the car. That evening we walked the boardwalk, holding hands while enjoying some ice cream.

Virginia Beach (2019)

The next morning we slept in and enjoyed each other in quiet before heading to the boardwalk at the beach. We met some interesting people, including a lady who walked up to us while someone was attempting to take our photo. She started rambling on, something about Jesus, when we informed her we were having our picture taken. It made for a good laugh for us and the gentleman taking our photo. Moments with just the two of us are rare nowadays and we had a nice time but nothing beats our trio.
